The Course

Bill Rich grew up playing Green Valley CC in Fairfield where he was an accomplished junior golfer. He moved to Chico in 1976 to play golf at Butte College. While in college, Bill worked at both Bidwell and Butte Creek, where he made connections that lasted the rest of his life. He became a BCCC member in his twenties, and likely has the unofficial record for most balls ever hit on their driving range.

Bill always felt that golf was so much more than just a sport. It taught him life lessons that he used off the course, which helped shape him into the successful man he was. Bill was grateful for all that the game of golf had given him, and has always wanted to pass it forward to other aspiring junior golfers.

It meant a lot to Bill to help young kids develop, both as golfers and as human beings. He enjoyed helping young men and women with the mental side of golf, as a great deal of maturity and critical thinking skills can be gained which will pay dividends in their lives forever.

The Beyond Golf project meant a lot to Bill, as he knew what kind of everlasting positive impact golf can have on young kids in the Chico community.
